What is CORE?

CORE stands for Comprehensive On-Ice Rating Engine. It's our custom-built system for evaluating NHL players based on their total on-ice impact with a single Overall Rating. For skaters we also provide an Offensive and Defensive Rating.

All ratings are calculated using publicly available stats and advanced analytics, primarily sourced from NHL Edge and MoneyPuck. Player and team data is refreshed regularly.

What else can you explore?

Player Rating CORE blends recent on-ice performance, context, and usage into a single, position-aware rating ranging from 50 to 100, giving fans and analysts a more complete picture of a player's contribution and value.
Player Match Finds players with comparable profiles based on CORE ratings, production, usage, and physical attributes.
Career Trajectory Identifies players with similar a Rating at the same age to help project future performance and career arcs.
Player Contract Value An innovative way to assess a player's current value and evaluate it against their contract. Important to note that this assessment does NOT consider player or contract projections.
Team Rating Aggregates player ratings for the top 12 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 2 goalies of each team.
Team Predictions Predicts point totals for every team based on aggregated ratings of their roster players. Point Projections forecast the point total at the end of the season.
Team Rosters Lists the projected forward lines and defense based on Player Ratings and recent ice time. Injured Players are excluded.
Draft & Redraft Tools Evaluates career impact of draft picks, simulates redrafts and evaluates draft success for each team and year.
